Two sausages with pasta and Alfredo sauce on a plate

Sausages and Pasta Alfredo

Because the Alfredo sauce is so versatile, it can be used to make a simple dish into a truly delightful meal. It is popularly used for pasta recipes as well as any other dishes that need sauces to enhance the natural flavor.
Because a lot of people have to work, time in the kitchen is limited and ready-made Alfredo sauce can be bought in jars at local stores and groceries. This is quite amazing as it is actually pretty easy to make your own Alfredo sauce in virtually 5 minutes.

Sausages also serve the same purpose. For people who are always in a hurry, sausages cook fast and can be used for sandwiches and pasta dishes or simply at the grill. However, a sausage can be much more. Now, we have two new recipes for you, featuring Italian sausage and Spanish Chorizo, both known for their taste and versatility.

These types of sausages are already delicious in their own right. With the addition of Alfredo sauce, you can expect that you will have a creamier, tastier and more satisfying culinary presentation.

Italian Sausage Lasagna with Spinach and Alfredo Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Italian sausage
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese (for topping)
  • 1½ cups mozzarella cheese (for topping)
  • 5 oz frozen spinach (chopped)
  • Cheese layer
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese
  • 1½ cups cheddar cheese
  • 12 oz. cottage cheese
  • 15 oz. ricotta cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • For the Alfredo Sauce:
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese
  • 16 oz. cream cheese
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1½ Tbsp. Italian seasoning

Cooking Instructions

Salami on a wooden board, with pepper and herbs

Salami, the maybe most famous sausage from Italy

  1. Preheat the oven to 350º Fahrenheit.
  2. Follow package instructions in cooking the spinach and browning sausages.
  3. Meanwhile, prepare the Alfredo sauce and cook the noodles. It is doable to cook both at the same time because they will cook slowly.
  4. In cooking the Alfredo sauce, place the butter and cream cheese in a saucepan and place over moderately low heat. Then add the parmesan cheese, milk and seasoning when the butter and cheese are well melted. It is best to whisk in blending these ingredients. Turn off the heat and set aside about ½ cup of the sauce.
  5. Drain the sausage and spinach separately when they are done. Wrap the spinach in clean paper towels and wring out well to remove any excess oil. This is to avoid runny lasagna.
  6. Mix the Alfredo sauce, sausages and spinach. This mixture will make one of the layers.
  7. For the cheese layer, mix the egg, parmesan cheese, cheddar cheese, cottage cheese and ricotta cheese. Set aside.
  8. At the bottom of a deep 9×13 pan, spread the reserved half cup of Alfredo sauce evenly. Lay the noodles down, followed by a layer using ⅓ of the cheese mixture, then spread a layer of sausage and sauce mixture.
  9. Repeat the process twice to make more layers following the same sequence.
  10. Cover the baking dish and bake for about 30 minutes.
  11. Remove cover and spread the parmesan and mozzarella cheeses on top. Bake uncovered until the cheese is melted, usually takes 5-10 minutes. Serve.

  6. Down the center of the dough, form the chorizo mixture into a log positioned lengthwise.
