Cooking Alfredo Sauce FAQ – Tips and Guide
One should think it’s just another sauce and that there is nothing special about it, but obviously there are tons of variations around, so are the questions people might ask and well, here you will find some answers:
Q: What the heck is Fettuccine?
A:Fettuccine a special sort of Italian pasta: long, thin and flat.
Q:And Alfredo?
A: Alfredo is an Italian first name. But in the American cuisine we refer to a white sauce basically made of butter, cream and Parmesan cheese. You can add additional seasoning in many ways.
Q:…and that’s Alfredo sauce? Why that name?
A: Yep, the sauce explained above. As it was originally served with Fettuccine the name Fettuccine Alfredo is often used, even if we use a variation without the original pasta and not made by the Alfredo from Rome guy who invented it…
Q: I do not have to use that ling, thin and flatt noodles?
A: Nope. You can use whatever pasta you want or just use the sauce on its own, combining it with other ingredients. The American cuisine does it frequently.
Q: Great! But I don’t like Parmesan… isn’t there another cheese out there?
A: Many people are either not fan of Parmesan or do not want to spent so much money on it. There are many alternatives and you can try even a low fat recipe…
Q: But heavy cream is still fat…
A: Eeee, just use light butter, light cream and light cheese. Add some flour and stark then in order for the sauce to hold better. Egg yolk would work, too, but it is fat, isn’t it? Have I mentioned the low-carb recipe?
Q: I do not want my Alfredo sauce to be white…
A: Hell! I have seen people who wanted it to be even whiter! But well, there is a red looking recipe with tomatoes…
Q: Can’t you make it more fresh? Let’s say for summer time?
A: Of course, just add some lime or lemon.
Q: Actually I don’t like creamy sauces at all, neither cheese and pasta neither…
A: What kinda question is this one?! But, yeah, then go for the Salmon with Alfredo sauce in a pastry puff, how about that?! It would be a pity if you wouldn’t try it…
To be continued. Enjoy your meal!
